What is mylansite?

mylansite is a set of components and modules for the Joomla! CMS to manage all tasks of a lanparty. It currently contains functionality for seat reservation, tournament brackets, team management, event management, catering services and payments.
Updated components and new subscriptions PDF Print E-mail

I have just published new versions of three of the components:

com_mls_events 2.0.6: This improves the handling of PayPal Instant Payment notifications in the back end. You also no longer have to manually configure the notification URL within your PayPal account for IPN to work.

com_mls_tournaments 2.0.2: Minor fixes in the frontend (link routing)

com_mls_teams 2.0.2: There was an error when a guest (no user logged in) tried to view a team. This has been fixed.

If you have previously purchased any of these components, the new version is available to you free of charge. If you were logged in when you made the purchase, just go to your My Details page and select the Purchased Downloads tab to re-download. If not, the links in your order confirmation email will now automatically download the new version.

As development on mylansite continues and plans for a 1.5 Native version are undergoing, new versions of the components might be chargeable again. To make it easier for you to stay updated you can now obtain mylansite in two subscription packages (yearly and quarterly).

If you purchase a mylansite subscription, you will be entitled to download any new mylansite release whilst your subscription is active. You will not incur any additional charges - only to renew the subscription. That means: If I release a 100% brand new version of mylansite on the last day of your subscription you'll get it - for free.

I chose Plimus as the payment gateway and software provider for this. If you select one of the links at the bottom you will be taken to the Plimus website to place your order.

1 year subscription (USD 50/year)

3 month subscription (USD 15/quarter)

At the current price of GBP 2.50 per component, the total price for all three components is roughly USD 12.00. With more frequent updates now, having a subscription will very soon pay off.

Additionally, there are two types of installation services on offer: Joomla! + mylansite installation or mylansite-only installation. More information about that when you click either of the links above.

New - minimal - charge for file downloads! PDF Print E-mail

As you will notice, there is now a (very very VERY small) charge on the files you find on the downloads page. I have had to introduce this charge as the amount of donations this project receives (read: none) do not cover the running costs of the web server. The charges are:

com_mls_events Events Component GBP 2.50
com_mls_tournaments Tournaments Component GBP 2.50
com_mls_seatmap Seatmap Component GBP 2.50
com_mls_teams Teams Component FREE
mod_mls_checklist Checklist Module FREE
mod_mls_checklist Checklist Module FREE
mod_mls_eventstatus Event Status Module FREE

I am giving the Teams component away for free as it is needed to use the Tournaments component (and is of no much use on its own).

Payments via PayPal are accepted and the checkout process should be very painless. Once purchased (and once PayPal notified my website of your payment) you will received an automated email containing the download links.

You do not have to be registered to purchase and download any components, though if you are, you get the added benefit of a "Purchased Downloads" tab on your profile page where you can re-download everything you've purchased so far.

I hope that you'll all understand this charge and that the VERY low fee will help me keep this up and not stop you from downloading. I am sorry I've had to introduce this new system, but otherwise, it would just not have been worth wile any more.

Feel free to contact me with any questions, problems or concerns.

Regards

Samuel

How to set up PayPal Payment notification PDF Print E-mail
Written by Samuel Suter

I noticed that a lot of people couldn't get automatic PayPal notification to work properly. Mainly, because there is no documentation for mylansite (at the moment). To make sure people get this right in future and to avoid you a lot of trouble (and to bridge time until proper documentation exists), I am creating this article for you.

For those who are not aware of this feature: You can directly accept payments for tickets using PayPal. Once a visitor to your website has paid for his tickets, PayPal can send an IPN (Instant Payment Notification) back to your website. mylansite will read and verify this notification and - if everything is ok - mark the participant as paid and enable him to use the other tickets he bought (if he bought more than one).

A few steps are needed for this to work correctly. If you follow this guide step by step, you won't have any problems.
